Radio Nano LIVE! We Simplify Music
The band shared the emotional news with fans through a statement on Instagram, thanking supporters for more than 30 years of music, memories, and unforgettable concerts.
Although Aqua had continued performing over the years, the group experienced a huge resurgence after their iconic 1997 hit “Barbie Girl” inspired the 2023 track “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice for the blockbuster movie Barbie.

The renewed attention introduced Aqua to a younger audience and brought the band back into the international spotlight. The success even led to Grammy recognition connected to the soundtrack project.
As demand grew, the band began performing at larger venues and festivals once again.
What started as a nostalgic revival soon turned into a full-scale comeback, with sold-out shows and renewed international attention for the Scandinavian pop group.
In their statement, Aqua explained that the decision came after many years together as a group.
The members said they felt it was the right moment to close the chapter while the positive memories and strong relationships within the band still remained intact. They also expressed gratitude toward fans who had supported them throughout their long career.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you,” the band wrote, thanking audiences for the love, energy, and support they have received over the decades.
The group’s recent touring period was not without difficulties. In 2024, vocalist Lene Nystrøm revealed that she suffered a panic attack during a concert in Australia.
Later that same year, Aqua performed at Oslo Spektrum for the first time, marking another milestone in the band’s long career.
While Aqua has confirmed the end of their live performances, the group has not stated whether they will continue working together in the studio or release new music in the future.
For now, fans are left with a final message of appreciation from one of Scandinavia’s most recognizable pop acts.
