In 2011, the Norwegian parliament decided to discontinue broadcasting on FM, and fully digitize Norwegian radio. The process itself was postponed several times, but in 2017 it was the end of national FM broadcasting in Norway, as the government switched off one FM-transponder after another. But if Norway were to first fully digitize Norwegian radio broadcasting, why stop at DAB (digital audio broadcasting)? Wouldn’t it be great if we could expand the digitalization, and broadcast radio in a way that could be cheaper, more eco-friendly, and even being able to reach a more global audience?
These were the questions we asked ourselves, which in 2016 resulted in the establishment of Radio Nano. A web-based radio station, localized in Oslo, the capitol of Norway.
“Without music, life would be a mistake”
Welcome to Radio Nano
As you can interpret from our name, we’re obviously not be the biggest radio station in the world. Still, we do strive to give our audience the best music there is, within the CHR-format (contemporary hit radio). In addition to basing our playlists on the official European top-charts, we also embrace the opportunity to interact with our listeners. Our request module is connected to our radio automation system, which automatically cue the music being requested from our homepage, playing it “OnAir” as soon as possible. In addition, all our music-charts are based on the votes given by our audience, immediately changing an artists place on the chart, depending on the number of votes.
This is why we say:
Radio Nano – We Simplify Music!
As an independent radio station, we love to be a stepping stone for artists promoting their music. If you are an artist, or a promotor, please visit this link, and send us your demo.
