Sentimental possession

Written by on March 5, 2019

For those who have lost someone close to them, the importance of having some prized possessions to remember their loved ones by, are well known. Even if it’s only for sentimental reasons.

For Tanner, it’s no different. His father died when he was 15 years old, killed in the line of duty, after a police chase in 2010. Except from photographs and memories, there’s not much to remember his dad by.

Then, in 2015, when the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, where his father used to work, auctioned off one of his dad’s most prized possessions, Tanner hoped he finally would be able to get his hands on his dad’s old squad car, a Dodge Charger. The vehicle, with 147,000 miles, was being sold to raise money for C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), an organization that provides services for survivors of law enforcement officers, killed in the line of duty.

As soon as the auction started, Tanner was the first bidder, bidding $2,500, but the bids soon passed Tanner’s limit, and ended up being sold for $60,000.

But loosing the auction, didn’t mean that all hope was gone.. Take a look at this heartwarming clip:
