Grand(-e) slam for Ariana
Written by Nano on March 5, 2019
Ariana Grande has become historic! She’s the first solo artist to claim all three top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 – at the same time. No one has managed this, since The Beatles in 1964.
Through a tweet, the Billboard congratulated the artist with her three top positions, with the songs “7 Rings”, “Break up with your girlfriend, I’m bored” and “Thank U”. As if that’s not enough, she has also set a new record for a female artist with the most songs on the top 40 Billboard Hot 100, at the same time. Eleven of them!
Grande retweeted Billboard’s congratulations, with the statement “Wait, what?” Before she later on, in a new tweet, said she laughed when she saw it, as she was sure the fans had edited the list.
Although no one has managed to accomplish the same thing as Ariana Grande, since The Beatles back in 1964, the latter still holds the record for most first places on both the Hot 100 and the album list. On the track list, The Beatles can brag about 20 first places, while enjoying 18 first places on the album list.
