2018 are lurking just around the corner, and it’s time to summarize the «The most popular feature films of 2017».

According to an Norwegian overview of moviegoers, more than 10,5 mill. people has so far this year, found their way to Norwegian Cinemas. Before the year even started, many movies were already hyped, and patiently we waited for romance, action, thrillers, horror and sci-fi to be shown on the big screen.

As 2017 are coming to an end, it’s definitely time to keep up traditions, and look back at what this year have given us of entertainment, excitement and enlightenment. Lets celebrate the 10 most popular feature films of 2017, according to Norwegian moviegoers.


10. Annabelle 2

Genres: Horror, Mystery, Thriller – Runtime: 109 min


Not all dolls are innocent: The manufacturer of dolls Samuel Mullins is a happy family man with his wife Esther and their daughter Bee, who dies hit by a car. Twelve years later, Samuel welcomes a group of orphan girls and a nun from a closed orphanage at home. He tells that only a closed room (that belonged to Bee) and Esther’s room would be off limits for the girls. The crippled girl Janice sneaks in Bee’s room during the night and sees a doll inside a closet. She plays in the room and soon she is haunted by an evil force. What has Janice unleashed in Bee’s room?


9. La La Land

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Music, Musical, Romance – Runtime: 128 min


A dazzling movie experience: Aspiring actress serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and jazz musician Sebastian scrapes by playing cocktail-party gigs in dingy bars. But as success mounts, they are faced with decisions that fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.


8. The Snowman

Norwegian crime, in an American wrapping: When an elite crime squad’s lead detective investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, he fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit, the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.


7. Dunkirk

Genres: Action, Drama, History, Thriller, War – Runtime: 106 min


Flashback from 1940: Evacuation of Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, and France, who were cut off and surrounded by the German army from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France, between May 26- June 04, 1940, during Battle of France in World War II.


6. IT

Genres: Horror, Thriller – Runtime: 135 min


Killer Clown: In the Town of Derry, the local kids are disappearing one by one, leaving behind bloody remains. In a place known as ‘The Barrens’, a group of seven kids are united by their horrifying and strange encounters with an evil clown and their determination to kill It.


5. Fifty Shades Darker

Genres: Drama, Romance – Runtime: 118 min (131 min, unrated)


No more rules or punishment: Christian and Ana decide to rekindle their relationship, except this time there are no more rules or punishments. As they begin to get used to their newfound relationship, Christian’s past begins to haunt Ana as Christian struggles with his innermost thoughts.

1. Beauty and the Beast

Genres: Family, Fantasy, Musical, Romance – Runtime: 129 min


True love will set you free: Disney’s animated classic takes on a new form, with a widened mythology and an all-star cast. A young prince, imprisoned in the form of a beast, can be freed only by true love. What may be his only opportunity arrives when he meets Belle, the only human girl to ever visit the castle since it was enchanted.
